Dedicated to finding you the lowest price!

Now that hurricane season is coming to a close (June 1 -November 30th), you may not be thinking about windstorm coverage;  especially since we didn't have a major storm come our way.  But let's not be fooled, one of these years a hurricane may come our way and we need to be prepared.  So, keep this in mind especially if you are a coastal county resident and you have a policy that does not include windstorm coverage.

"BEFORE YOU BUILD INQUIRE ABOUT A WINDSTORM INSURANCE INSPECTION." The following information is published by the Texas Department of Insurance:

"The Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) is the state's insurer of last resort for wind and hail coverage in the 14 coastal counties and part of Harris County.  TWIA provides wind and hail coverage when insurance companies exclude it from homeowners insurance and other property policies sold to coastal residents.  While not required of all construction, the following projects typically DO require an inspection for windstorm insurance purposes:
*New Structures    *Additions    *Alterations    *Re-roof    *Repairs
Windstorm insurance inspections under this program must be made by either a Texas Department of Insurance inspector or engineer who has been appointed by the Commissioner of Insurance.

IMPORTANT: TDI inspectors are unable to inspect a property after construction is completed.  Therefore, all inspections must be made during the construction phase.

If you have a separate TWIA policy, take the time to read through the policy jacket for the coverage benefits.  If you need assistance or clarification of the policy benefits, just give us a call, we will be  happy to go over these with you!
